Cleaning the face from blackheads in the salon * Which procedure is the most effective

Blackhead problem

The presence of comedones (blackheads) is common to almost every person. Particularly at risk for their appearance are areas of the face. This problem is known to everyone, regardless of gender, age and season. Despite their comparative harmlessness, if we take acne and other skin pathologies as an example, comedones give the face an unkempt, unkempt appearance.

The most common places they appear are the nose and facial T-zone. This is where the skin is the most oily and problematic. The reason for the formation of blackheads is clogging of the sebaceous glands with sebum, which is produced in large quantities. Both dead skin cells and dust particles play a role in this negative process.

The reasons for the appearance of comedones can be called:

  • failure to comply with personal hygiene rules;
  • violation of nutritional standards;
  • sick stomach, intestines, endocrine system.

Salicylic acid for blackheads, a photo of which we see below, is considered one of the effective remedies. Let's consider this tool in detail.

Properties of salicylic acid

Salicylic acid is widely used in cosmetology in chemical peeling compositions. It acts on the surface and middle layer of the skin, gently exfoliating and renewing it. This tool:

  • does not provoke irritation;
  • does not dry the skin;
  • helps eliminate pigmentation;
  • normalizes skin balance;
  • removes dirt from pores;
  • has an exfoliating and softening effect.

Even though salicylic acid is gentle on the skin, reviews show that it is very effective. With long-term use, this remedy will completely eliminate blackheads on the nose and other areas of the face.

Its action is based on the ability of the acid to dissolve the protein that makes up the epidermis. Its removal promotes intensive renewal of the skin and the elimination of sebaceous plugs. Salicylic acid gradually thins the skin on the nose and helps get rid of comedones.

Please note that salicylic alcohol is often sold in pharmacies. The properties of alcohol and acid are similar, so it can be used to combat blackheads

But unlike salicylic acid, it dries the skin very much, so it should be applied spot on.

If you are unable to purchase salicylic acid of the required concentration, pay attention to a product such as StopProblem lotion. It's effective against blackheads but is alcohol-free and won't dry out your skin.

About the product properties

There are many helpful tips offered by dermatologists on how to care for problem skin. Does salicylic acid help with blackheads? Let's take a closer look.

This product has a pronounced antiseptic, keratolytic and irritant effect. Salicylic acid for blackheads is a drug against germs and bacteria. The method of using the liquid is as an external disinfectant. In most cases, this medicine is used to treat wounds and eliminate dermatological pathologies. The substance is able to penetrate into the dermis and stimulate blood flow.

The manifestation of keratolytic properties is that a process occurs when dead skin particles are exfoliated. The medicine also has a discoloration effect, when it can successfully whiten the dermis.

How to eliminate comedones

Prevention and the treatment process must be comprehensive, which will fully take into account the individual mechanism of development of pathological processes in the patient’s body. It is worth making a proper diet, adjusting the functioning of the endocrine and nervous systems, as well as the digestive organs.

Both in the prevention and treatment of acne, proper skin care must be taken, especially for combination and oily skin types. Care includes:

  • comprehensive cleansing and moisturizing of the face;
  • decreased secretion in the sebaceous glands;
  • elimination of excess sebum;
  • reducing the level of skin contamination with microorganisms and bacteria;
  • reduction in the thickness of the stratum corneum;
  • protection from exposure to sunlight.

Features of the drug's influence

Salicylic acid for blackheads provides an antiseptic and anti-inflammatory effect. It also allows you to achieve:

  • restoration of complexion;
  • stabilizing the process of fat production under the skin;
  • preventing blockage of the ducts, ensuring the prevention of skin problems;
  • exfoliation and softening;
  • cleansing pores.

Care after cleaning

After cleansing, special facial skin care is required. You will have to observe a number of prohibitions:

  • A two- to three-day ban on being outside. Firstly, during this period the face peels off and local redness appears. It looks unaesthetic. Secondly, wind, temperature and humidity changes do not have the best effect on the condition of the face.
  • You cannot apply decorative cosmetics for three days. The pores are still very sensitive, so they can easily become clogged.
  • A one-week ban on visiting the pool, solarium, sauna, bathhouse, and beach. The tan after cleansing lies unevenly, and exposure to high temperatures adversely affects the healing process and accelerates the production of sebum. For the same reason, you should not wash your face with hot water.
  • It is forbidden to use scrubs for a week, as the skin is injured and needs time to recover.
  • Do not use tap water or soap to wash your face. Soap dries out the skin, and tap water is saturated with chlorine and impurities that are absorbed and cause irritation.

In the first hours, no care is taken: everything that is needed has already been done in the salon. Then, to restore the skin, it is recommended:

  • use decoctions of medicinal herbs with an antiseptic effect (chamomile, St. John's wort, celandine, plantain) for rinsing the face;
  • wipe your face with alcohol-free lotion (only local damage can be burned with alcohol);
  • wash your face with mineral or melt water acidified with lemon juice;
  • Make soothing masks suitable for your type 1-2 times a week;
  • moisturize it with creams to remove peeling;
  • apply gel with aloe extract to damaged areas;
  • twice a day, lubricate new pimples (if they appear) with Metrogyl gel
  • Use sunscreen to avoid the appearance of age spots.

How to use the product

Before using this drug, you need to know how to use salicylic acid for blackheads. Like all other pharmaceutical drugs, this one also has instructions. It states that if used incorrectly, negative consequences are possible. First of all, it is recommended to find out the acid concentration:

  • If you use salicylic acid against blackheads, you need to take a 5% concentration of the drug.
  • To speed up the process of eliminating pigmentation, a 10% composition is used.
  • If the skin is highly sensitive, a gradual increase in concentration will be required, starting with 1% of the composition and gradually reaching 3%.

To obtain the desired result, a full therapeutic course will be required. The selection of its duration occurs individually. In accordance with the general scheme, you will need to carry out one or two cleansing procedures every week and repeat it for two months. Then tangible improvements will be noticeable.

Types of salon cleaning for blackheads

The salon procedure is aimed at eliminating external contaminants: the keratinized upper layer, acne, comedones, and stimulating blood circulation. If you are interested in which facial cleansing is the most effective, then it is difficult to give a definite answer to this question. Each type has indications and contraindications. The method of eliminating blackheads should be selected by a cosmetologist after analyzing the condition of the face. But if the client himself chooses which facial cleansing is best done in the salon, it is necessary to study the features of each type of procedure.

Mechanical

This technique is especially suitable if the skin is porous and oily.

Indications for the procedure:

  • comedones (white and black);
  • acne without inflammation.
  • herpes;
  • eczema;
  • boils;
  • rosacea;
  • hypertension;
  • dry, sensitive skin;
  • period of menstruation.

The necessary tools are a Uno spoon (contraindicated for sensitive skin) and a Vidal needle. All instruments must be sterile, which is why the procedure should be carried out by a cosmetologist. However, despite all precautions, there is a risk of secondary infection.

Disadvantage of mechanical cleansing: high pain.

Progress of the procedure. The procedure is carried out under good lighting. The master’s task is to ensure that the pores do not close, otherwise the procedure will begin to cause serious discomfort.

When the face has steamed, the cosmetologist removes the softened horny layers without affecting the inflamed areas, and then begins deep cleaning using a Vidal needle and an Uno spoon. Afterwards, the skin is disinfected with infrared light, a liquid with anti-inflammatory properties, such as hydrogen peroxide, and also applying masks with a calming effect. Cryomassage is recommended.

The duration of the procedure is about 20 minutes, after which the pores close on their own. Further cleaning becomes painful, so either a new steaming compress is made or the procedure is postponed to another session.

Mechanical cleansing is considered an outdated technique, but it allows you to thoroughly clean your face when hardware methods fail. It is used as a complement after other types of cleansing.

Vacuum

To carry out the procedure with a vacuum, you need a suction cup tool, which, under the influence of negative pressure, sucks in the contents of the pores. The appropriate attachment is selected according to the client's skin type. This procedure rarely injures the epidermis and does not cause pain or recurrence of inflammation. However, sensitive skin may experience bruising.

The indications are the same as for mechanical facial cleansing.

  • inflamed acne;
  • rosacea;
  • dermatitis;
  • dry, sensitive skin.

The vacuum method of facial cleansing will not help with deep, old blackheads, so it is complemented by regular manual or mechanical cleansing.

Progress of the procedure. The suction cup moves around the surface of the face in a circle. From time to time, the instrument is sterilized in antiseptic. As a result of these actions, blood circulation improves, the skin becomes more toned, acquires a healthy color, and lymphatic drainage improves.

Note! Cleansing is carried out only after steaming.

After the procedure, the pores are closed by applying soothing agents.

Home vacuum devices are available. However, they are inferior to professional devices in terms of functionality and efficiency.

Laser

This is not exactly cleaning if you compare the technique with other options. However, thanks to laser treatment, regeneration processes are launched in the skin and its outer layers are renewed.

Indications for the procedure are:

  • pimples with and without heads;
  • comedones;
  • acne;
  • enlarged pores.

Contraindications include:

  • exacerbation of acne;
  • menstruation period;
  • allergy to laser;
  • herpes;
  • diabetes;
  • neoplasms.

This is a complex procedure. Its essence is that the laser “evaporates” the upper layers of the epidermis, as a result of which the outer layer of cells is then renewed. While some types of procedures can be carried out at home, laser cleaning at home is contraindicated. It must be performed by a specially trained cosmetologist.

Progress of the procedure. Before treatment, an anesthetic cream is applied. And then they begin to cauterize the skin with a laser with a working surface of 1.5x1.5 cm.

The duration is from 20 minutes to 1 hour. Laser cleaning should not be overused; it is carried out once a month, or even less often.

Galvanic

As the name suggests, a galvanic current is applied to the face during the cleansing process. The procedure is painless as a weak current is used. In rare cases, it is felt as a tolerable tingling sensation, and in some cases it is not felt at all.

This is a highly effective procedure that can get rid of deep, old stains, so it is recommended instead of manual cleaning as it is less traumatic. Thanks to electricity, sebaceous plugs dissolve and are brought to the surface, sebum turns into soap, which is removed by a cosmetologist after the procedure.

  • increased fat content;
  • acne and comedones;
  • post-acne;
  • wrinkles;
  • seborrhea.
  • dryness and sensitivity;
  • pregnancy;
  • vitiligo;
  • neoplasms;
  • dermatitis;
  • presence of pacemakers and electrical implants.

Note! As a result of galvanic cleaning, impurities are removed, blood vessels are strengthened, tone is increased, blood flow and metabolism are stimulated.

Progress of the procedure. A conductive gel is applied to the face. Then the cosmetologist takes a device equipped with an attachment with electrodes. He moves this attachment over the surface of the face in a circular motion. If you use any cosmetic medicinal preparations together with galvanic cleaning, then under the influence of electric current they penetrate much deeper than usual.

After the procedure, the relief is evened out, so the effect is comparable to peeling. There is no need to close the pores, just remove dirt and apply your usual care products.

Duration of procedure: 20 min.

Depending on the frequency of galvanic cleaning, different effects may be observed. If you carry out the procedure no more than once a month, the skin will dry out, which is optimal for high oil content. But if the procedures are abused, sebum is produced more intensely.

Features of the procedure

Blackheads on the face will gradually disappear if you treat the skin with a cotton pad soaked in salicylic acid. Then you need to lubricate your entire face with this drug. If the problem is concentrated in a specific location, only that area is treated.

After the procedure, you will definitely need to use a tonic that does not contain alcohol and apply a moisturizer.

To increase the effectiveness of the procedure, the skin is steamed in a water bath before treatment. You can add a herbal decoction to the water, which contains medicinal plants such as mint, chamomile and thyme.

Steaming should continue for 5-15 minutes, depending on the condition of the skin.

To achieve a noticeable effect, you can also use a mask that combines salicylic acid and honey. One tablet of acid dissolves in half a spoon of clean water. Add a small amount of soda and half a spoonful of ingredients such as aloe juice and honey. After thoroughly mixing all the ingredients, the mixture is applied to the areas where blackheads have accumulated. After leaving this composition for five minutes, it is washed off with warm water.

Cosmetologists advise not to use any other means after completing this procedure. It is recommended to repeat the use of this mask weekly in the evening.

It is also practiced to use the following procedure using the following components:

  • hot herbal decoction;
  • laundry soap;
  • soft toothbrush;
  • salicylic acid 2%.

First, the facial skin is steamed, for which you need to add herbal decoctions to the bath. Then, using a soft brush lubricated with soap, you need to treat the entire surface of the face. The procedure lasts no more than two minutes. It is important to treat areas where blackheads are located especially carefully. Warm water is used to wash off the soap composition, after which the skin is treated with salicylic acid. After this, the skin is washed with cool water to tighten the pores.

How to get rid of closed comedones (millet)? I'll tell you my story. The fight lasted 2 months.

Once upon a time, in the distant kingdom, in the thirtieth state, there lived a girl for whom everything was fine, but one fine day she realized that something unclean and frightening was happening to the skin of her face. This is how our story begins.

The story of a difficult fight against comedones, and not ordinary ones, but closed ones. But let's return to reality. One morning I actually noticed some subcutaneous tubercles on my face. At first there were few of them, but every day they arrived in the regiment. I was worried because... In my life, I had never seen anything on my face other than acne (and regular acne, not subcutaneous acne), and I certainly had no idea how to deal with this miracle. Our beloved Internet (my own doctor) helped me decide on the “diagnosis.” I understand that the solution does not shine with intelligence, but the condition of my skin was not catastrophic and I decided to limit myself to a remote examination. There is something like a service on mail where you can ask a real doctor about your problem and get a more or less clear answer. I decided that this was still better than nothing and described my problem there. To which I received the answer:

Yeah. Chemical peels. Well, yes, of course, for that price. Let's move on. Meso-something there, let's go. Well, there are only retinoids left. In terms of price, it turned out that the closest thing was Retinoic ointment. I looked at the reviews, hmmm. For some it’s God’s nectar, for others it’s poison, for others it’s a placebo altogether. Well, I think what the hell is not joking. It has become painfully unbearable to wash my face in the morning, as if wearing a cucumber mask that cannot be removed or cut off. Actually, these are the photos the doctor used to guide him.

It so happened that you can’t find this ointment during the day, but luck smiled on me and I bought 1 tube. As the packaging stated - 0.05% concentration. Just right for a start. Expectation and reality, as usual, did not coincide. In almost every review, people talked about severe peeling of the skin, new outbreaks of acne and other evil spirits, dry skin, and all this began on the 3-4th day of use.

Clearing the nose

Salicylic acid for blackheads on the nose is used as follows. Using a cotton pad soaked in this product, wipe the areas of the nose where acne is located. If there are many such points, you need to apply acid to the entire nose. Then new pimples and comedones will not spread to the entire face.

Rubbing is carried out until a slight tingling sensation is felt. This is the signal for the start of the substance’s action. Upon completion of the procedure, you will need to neutralize the effect of the substance by washing it off with warm water.

Tools for removing comedones

You can remove comedones using special devices that can be purchased at a pharmacy or online store.

These include:

  • spoon Uno;
  • Vidal loop;
  • needle.

Most often, these tools are combined in pairs. So, for example, there may be a loop on one side of the device, and a spoon or needle on the other.

A loop and a spoon allow you to remove the core of a comedone or clean out dirt from a pore without damaging the skin. A needle is needed to pierce the skin covering the head of the pimple.

You can see what such tools look like in the video.

Video:

Before removing comedones, the instrument and skin are prepared in the same way as before manual cleaning: cleaned, steamed, and disinfected.

A loop is used to remove blackheads. The tool is pressed to the point and moved at a slight angle.

The loop scrapes off the dirt protruding from the pores and squeezes them out a little. The process is clearly shown in the video.

You can remove acne, whiteheads and purulent inflammations using a Uno spoon, which has a hole in the center.

The instrument is applied to the pimple so that the hole is opposite the purulent area, and apply pressure. After this, all the liquid contents of the pimple end up in a spoon.

If the core of the rod is deep and cannot be reached by simply pressing the instrument, then a needle will come to the rescue, with which the upper layer of skin is pierced in the right place, after which all the unpleasant contents of the pimple can be removed.

After removing the comedones, the treated areas are disinfected and the bleeding is stopped (if necessary).

This can be done with alcohol or tea tree essential oil. If you carry out the procedure in the evening, then by the morning the redness will disappear from the skin and you can begin your daily activities.

About contraindications

Like all pharmaceutical drugs, salicylic acid has a number of contraindications for use:

  • When the medication causes severe peeling. If such a negative symptom as peeling of the surface of the face occurs, a new portion of acne may appear. But it is important to understand the difference between conditions such as peeling and cell renewal. Those with dry skin risk drying out and burning it.
  • For dry skin that produces virtually no oil, it is best to avoid using an alcohol solution. Otherwise, instead of the benefits of such a procedure, you can only get harm.
  • The use of salicylic acid is not recommended for pregnant women.

My rating of anti-comedogenic products

Blackheads cause torment for many young girls, older girls and even some men.
Although the latter are unlikely to suffer for this reason. One universal remedy that will help everyone get rid of comedones has not yet been invented. That is why you have to select your own remedy through trial and error.

After asking my cosmetologists (like what helps their clients), my friends and myself, I made a small rating of products with varying degrees of effectiveness.

1 place. Lotion for dissolving closed comedones (Holy Land, Israel)

The lotion is used for professional care in the salon, when preparing the face for cleaning. Many people, having tried the lotion from a cosmetologist, order it for home care. And this despite the fairly high price (from 1200 rubles). The lotion is non-alcoholic; the main active ingredients are extracts of witch hazel, chamomile, and arnica. This remedy not only dissolves comedones and reduces the secretion of the sebaceous glands, but also prevents their appearance. Does not dry out even very dry sensitive skin. I will say right away that you will not get an immediate effect. Even a cosmetologist uses lotion before cleansing only so that comedones come out very easily. You will see the first results after 3 – 4 days of use, always 2 times a day. By the way, I completely forgot to mention the interesting nuances associated with comedones. Maybe you have noticed that when you start to get carried away with all sorts of cleansing products, sometimes blackheads become even more visible, they seem to come to the surface.

Often the number of pimples increases, and you quit this remedy, considering it ineffective. In fact, on the contrary, it tries to cleanse the pores and remove everything accumulated in them from the skin, but practically no product can do this completely.

Therefore, my dear readers, if you want to really remove comedones, then before purchasing any product, go for cleaning (ultrasound, acids).

After this, your task is to prevent comedones from settling on your face again. Agree, this is much easier than removing them. The second nuance is related to the depth of penetration of anti-comedoid products into the pores. To improve this penetration, before using lotion or other product, generously moisten the areas with blackheads with hydrogen peroxide. It loosens the top layer of skin, degreases and slightly whitens both the skin and comedones in particular. Okay, back to the lotion. Personally, I have been using it for a long time, although rarely, but there really are no blackheads. My friends note that their skin in general becomes less oily after using this product, and over time the amount of acne decreases.

2nd place Exfoliating gel and cream all with AHA (EXFOLIAC, France)

This is a pharmacy line of medicinal cosmetics with fruit acids, produced by the French branch of the MERK company. They say that in France this is the most popular brand for oily, problem skin. I have heard quite a few good reviews about this cosmetics.

Although both gels that I’m talking about are, in principle, not for comedones, they really help get rid of them. The fruit acids in their composition will gently exfoliate your skin day after day, gradually cleansing the pores and making them invisible. The skin will renew itself faster and there will no longer be comedones in its upper layer.

The downside of these products is that they dry out the skin, so use them only for the T-zone. And don’t be alarmed if the skin rolls off in pellets for the first two weeks, this is good.

3rd place Nose patches

They are of little help to anyone, and the reason is that you are all using them incorrectly. Before sticking the patch on your nose, you must first steam your face (I wrote about how to do this here) and wipe it with hydrogen peroxide, and only after that the patch. Using it according to this scheme, in principle, anyone will be useful. My friend has been using all sorts of Chinese anti-comedone patches for many years. Nothing helped before, but they really clean. The Chinese have worked hard on their assortment; they have “Bamboo Charcoal”, “Chinese Aloe”, and even “Chocolate” with “Black Mineral Mud”. They are sold through various distributors, and, probably, via the Internet.

4th place Skinoren - gel

I personally know many people who got rid of both comedones and acne with the help of this gel (the gel is much better than the cream). The downside is that azelaic acid, the basis of Skinoren, is mercilessly drying. Therefore, it is suitable only for oily skin, and only for the T-zone.

5th place CLEAN&CLEAR and Neutrogena

There is nothing interesting in the composition of these brands, except perhaps salicylic acid. According to the stories of the fighters against blackheads themselves, these manufacturers (more precisely, brands) have only 2 products that help at least in some way: 2 in 1 Gel Mask and Lotion. It seems to refresh the face and make comedones invisible.

If you go to a cosmetologist before using them and don’t forget about peroxide, the effect will not be bad. As always, I did not talk about all the means that I know. As soon as I collect reliable information about their effectiveness, I will write immediately.
