What kind of product?

Essentially, ether is a highly concentrated extract obtained from plant materials. The products have a very complex and varied composition; pure ether can contain up to fifty different components. Thanks to such a diverse composition, essential oils have a wide range of applications; they are used in medicine, cosmetology and even in cooking.

Real essential oils are sold in small (usually 10-15 ml) bottles made of dark glass. For ease of use, many manufacturers provide bottles with dropper caps that allow the product to be dosed correctly. You should not buy ethers in plastic bottles or clear glass bottles; most likely, this is not a natural product, but an artificially synthesized one. The fact is that real ethers are destroyed under the influence of light and change their composition during prolonged contact with plastic.

The range of essential oils is varied, but all products can be divided into several groups. This:

  • Citrus. Moreover, esters are made from different parts of the plant. For example, the orange tree serves as raw material for the production of three types of oils - from flowers, fruit zest and leaves. These three types differ significantly in smell and effect.
  • Herbal. These are oils of mint, sage, rosemary, etc.
  • Conifers. Extracts of their fir, pine, cedar, etc.
  • Spicy. Ginger, cinnamon essential oils, etc.
  • Floral. This group includes oils of rose, chamomile, lavender, etc.
  • Exotic. Esters of patchouli, jojoba, ylang-ylang, etc.

Geranium oil inside

Geranium oil can be taken orally. The choice of recipe depends on the problem.

For example, you can:

  • for headaches, mix geranium oil with olive or sunflower oil in a ratio of 1:3 and apply the mixture to the temples, the back of the head, or lubricate the palms and feet with it;
  • for otitis, insert cotton swabs soaked in a mixture of geranium and olive oil (1:2) into the ears for 20-30 minutes;
  • for gum diseases, apply cotton pads soaked in geranium and olive oils (1:4).

More often, geranium oil is taken orally as part of olive or vegetable oil to:

  • remove kidney stones;
  • reduce blood sugar;
  • eliminate diarrhea;
  • remove worms;
  • relieve pain from stomach ulcers.

But in all cases of internal use of the extract, consultation with a doctor is necessary.

Homemade face mask recipes with geranium oil

Homemade recipes with geranium ether have a beneficial effect on the epidermis for any skin type. Wrinkles are smoothed out, color is restored, inflammation and acne go away. By stimulating blood flow, blood vessels are strengthened, rosacea is prevented, and puffiness under the eyes can be eliminated.

Result: the use of flower oil is effective against pimples, comedones and acne. Redness is reduced and clogged ducts are cleared.

Esters can also be added to homemade cosmetic masks. Here are some effective recipes.

With green clay

This composition gives the skin elasticity and smoothes out wrinkles. Dilute two tablespoons of cosmetic clay with cold water until a creamy mass is obtained. Then add drops of lavender, rosemary, calendula and incense esters. Stir everything and apply to prepared (cleansed and steamed) facial skin. After twenty minutes, wash off the composition.

Kefir

This is an express remedy, it is suitable if you need to quickly eliminate signs of fatigue. In two tablespoons of kefir or natural yogurt, stir three to five drops of rose oil, three drops of orange ether and two drops of juniper ether. Apply for a quarter of an hour.

With sour cream and honey

Heat a teaspoon of honey to make the product more elastic and mix it with 15 ml of almond oil. Add a teaspoon of thick, fatty sour cream and three drops of mint ether to the composition. Apply on face for half an hour.

After the procedure, the face will become fresher and more toned.

Geranium oil against ticks and mosquitoes

The aroma of geranium oil is not tolerated by many insects, so it is used to protect against ticks and mosquitoes.

Apply a few drops of geranium oil before going outside, while relaxing in nature or before going to the forest to pick mushrooms and berries. Sprinkle the aroma of geranium in your rooms (5-6 drops per liter of water) so that insects do not bother you.

For mosquito and midge bites, to relieve redness, apply pure geranium oil with a cotton swab to the irritated area.

Geranium oil during pregnancy

Geranium oil increases the amount of estrogen in the blood, and changes in hormonal levels can negatively affect the health of the expectant mother.

Therefore, you should be careful when using plant extract, especially if there are contraindications. External use of diluted oil in small dosages is acceptable.

In the third trimester, aromatherapy can be used to restore your emotional state - one drop in an aroma lamp is enough to improve your mood and relax.

Aromatic baths with geranium oil are not recommended during pregnancy. You should also be careful with its use during breastfeeding, as pelargonium extract reduces milk production.

Allergy to geranium oil

Although geranium oil is not toxic, your immune system may react negatively to its scent or composition. To test, take a few breaths from a bottle of undiluted oil. If headache or nausea does not appear during the day, then use the extract for baths and aromatherapy.

Do another test before applying to skin, hair or ingestion. Apply a few drops of pelargonium oil to the crook of your elbow and monitor the condition of your skin throughout the day. If irritation, redness and peeling do not appear, then geranium oil can be enriched with finished cosmetics or added to home remedies.

How to choose an essential oil?

In nature, there are four types of essential oils, which differ in their actions:

  1. For quickly oily skin.
  2. For skin that is dry and constantly peeling.
  3. Those that help remove acne.
  4. Helping to maintain youthfulness of the skin of the face, or more simply – anti-wrinkle oils.

Oily skin is recognized by cosmetologists as the most problematic; it is favorable for the proliferation of subcutaneous mites and acne. The shine with which it is characterized spoils the appearance and all applied cosmetics float. To eliminate this type of skin problem, it is recommended to use esters from plants such as:

  • tea tree;
  • cinnamon;
  • rosemary;
  • mandarin;
  • lemon;
  • chamomile;
  • eucalyptus.

Dry skin needs constant hydration. This type of skin quickly acquires unnecessary folds, since due to dryness it becomes thin and flaky.

Esters cope well with the task of moisturizing and nourishing the skin of the face:

  • roses;
  • from chamomile flowers;
  • lavender;
  • mint;
  • sandalwood

Acne is a very common skin problem on the face. Not everyone knows that it is easier to cure without medications. You just need to use the right aroma oil. The following natural remedies will work well in the fight against acne:

  • bergamot oil;
  • chamomile;
  • eucalyptus;
  • grapefruit.

The greatest desire of all women is to delay the aging and fading of their skin. Of course, they won’t always be young, but there are some natural remedies that will help you look much younger than the number on your passport. Such means include essential oils that fight the appearance of wrinkles on the skin of the face, improve the condition of the skin with the help of their beneficial effects: tonify, soothe and restore. The best ones for these effects:

  • rose petal oil;
  • lemon;
  • patchouli;
  • geranium oil;
  • incense;
  • myrrh;
  • jojoba;
  • grapefruit;
  • ylang-ylang;
  • tea tree oil;
  • carrot seed oil.

These are not all names; there are other less popular aroma oils of each type.

Reviews

Olga, 24 years old

Geranium oil turned out to be an ideal option for treating acne that appeared once a month about a week before my period. I started making masks with geranium and clay for prevention, and the problem went away.

Svetlana Ivanovna, 48 years old

I always take geranium oil with me if I go to the country with my family. It protects against mosquitoes and midges better than any commercial mosquito repellents. It is enough to apply a couple of drops on your wrist, and relaxing gatherings on the veranda are guaranteed. It's a pity that the grandson is still too young.

Rules of application

In order to smooth out wrinkles on your face as soon as possible, without causing harm, you must adhere to some rules:

  1. Firstly, you should never use ether undiluted; as a rule, it is sold as a concentrate. It must be diluted with base vegetable oil, or mixed with regular cream.
  2. Secondly, always do an allergy test.
  3. Thirdly, do not mix more than 6 types of ether with each other and do not take more than 3 drops of one to begin with. Use the prepared mixture for a maximum of a month, and be sure to take a break.
  4. Fourth, apply the product only to cleansed, slightly damp facial skin. It is ideal to perform the procedure in the evening, because recovery processes are activated during sleep.

When purchasing essential oil, check its expiration date. Look at the bottle it is sold in, it should be dark in color and hermetically sealed.

Before use, read the instructions for use, indications and contraindications.

If you start caring for aging facial skin on time, you can delay the appearance of deep wrinkles. Essential oils are an inexpensive and safe way to take care of your skin. Whether this care product is worth trying is up to each person to decide.

Polina, 22 years old

Disillusioned with cosmetics for inflamed skin, I began to look for natural recipes. Every morning I wash my face with water and geranium oil, my face has become cleaner, and my acne goes away faster.

Vera, 36 years old

First I tried a cream with geranium oil for the skin of the face. Remarkably moisturizes and copes with fine wrinkles. And I myself prepare a mask with geranium and sour cream, for belongings I add liquid to flour.

When planning to use essential oils against wrinkles, you must first become familiar with the rules for their use.

  • In cosmetology it is necessary to use only natural esters. The use of synthetic substitutes can negatively affect the condition of the skin.
  • It is allowed to use some essential oils on the eyelids, of course, in a mixture with base oils or other products. When applying the compositions, you need to ensure that they do not come into contact with the mucous membranes of the eyes.
  • You need to choose recipes based on your skin type. The use of an incorrectly selected composition of essential oils may not eliminate, but rather aggravate, a cosmetic problem.
  • It is not recommended to use compositions that contain more than 6 types of esters.
  • One type of essential oil (or one composition) should not be used for longer than one month. A repeat course can be started in a month.

There are many ways to use essential oils on your face. You can use any one type of oil, but the most effective are compositions of several esters.

But such compositions must be composed correctly so that the beneficial properties of the products complement each other and do not conflict.

The easiest way is to use essential oils by adding them to the finished product. For example, in your evening cream or lotion.

To eliminate dry skin, it is recommended to add a drop of esters to the cream:

  • roses and jasmine;
  • neroli, orange and verbena;
  • patchouli and lavender.

For combination and oily skin, it is recommended to add a drop of esters to the cream:

  • lemon and bergamot;
  • grapefruit and mint;
  • cinnamon, lime and eucalyptus.

An effective way to combat wrinkles is to prepare mixtures of essential oils dissolved in base oils. Here are some proven recipes:

  • Active prevention. For young girls aged 25-30 years, cosmetologists recommend applying a light mixture prepared from 5 ml of macadamia oil and esters of orange (3 drops) and neroli (1 drop) to cleansed skin once a week. This composition will prevent the appearance of early wrinkles.
  • Elimination of small wrinkles. If shallow wrinkles have already appeared, then you should prepare a mixture based on almond oil. Take 10 ml of base and add 2 drops of rosemary ether, and 10 drops of orange, lavender, lemon and carrot seed esters. Additionally, we enrich the composition with 5 drops of a solution of vitamin E in oil. Pour the mixture into a dark glass bottle. Every evening we apply the composition in a thin layer to the skin.
  • To use essential oils for deep wrinkles, it is recommended to prepare a mixture based on avocado, wheat germ and jojoba base oils. Take 15 ml of all three oils, mix the products and add 4 drops of rose oil and 3 drops of frankincense ether to the mixture. This mixture is recommended to be applied to areas where wrinkles are located, including the skin under the eyes.

For eyelid skin

By using essential oils for wrinkles around the eyes, you can achieve good results. The fine network of wrinkles on the eyelids will disappear, dark circles under the eyes will become less noticeable. And even deep wrinkles in the corners of the eyes can be smoothed out.

Here are some recipes for this area of the face:

  • Mix 30 ml of sesame oil with three drops of ylang-ylang ether and two drops of verbena ether. Pour into a dark glass bottle. Apply a thin layer to the eyelids twice a day. After a quarter of an hour, remove any remaining oil with a napkin.
  • Mix 20 ml of rosehip oil with 10 ml of jojoba base oil. Add 10 drops of fennel ether and 4 drops each of frankincense and jasmine esters.
  • To care for eyelids after 30 years, it is recommended to use a mixture of peach and argan oil (10 ml each). To this “Cocktail” you need to add three drops of neroli ether and two drops of lavender and rosemary esters. If wrinkles already exist, then the composition should be additionally enriched with vitamins by adding to the mixture the contents of three capsules of the vitamin pharmaceutical drug Aevit.

Area around the mouth

Often, after 40 years, women develop vertical wrinkles around their lips. To eliminate wrinkles and prevent their deepening, it is recommended to prepare a mixture of the following composition:

  • base oils of olive, wheat germ, flax - 10 ml each;
  • essential oils of neroli, jasmine, bergamot - 2 drops each;
  • lavender and rosemary ether – 1 drop each.

This mixture should be applied to the skin around the lips every evening. With regular use, wrinkles will become less noticeable and the definition of the lip contour will improve.

What to remember

  1. Natural geranium extract is used for cosmetic and medicinal purposes. It has an antibacterial and wound-healing effect, relieves swelling and eliminates pain, rejuvenates the skin and strengthens the hair.
  2. Individual intolerance, childhood, pregnancy and lactation are contraindications that do not allow the use of pelargonium oil.
  3. An affordable price will allow you to buy geranium oil at any pharmacy. You can also prepare it yourself using a simple recipe.

Summing up

You can use geranium oil for the face and in other masks prepared according to folk recipes. There are many of them on the Internet and everyone can choose the best option for themselves. The main thing is not to overdo it and remember the maximum duration of the course - three weeks.

According to reviews from my clients, this product is really strong and quickly produces visible results, especially on oily and problematic skin. When applied topically, even large pimples and herpes sores go away within 3-4 days. And using masks allows you to quickly clean and refresh your skin.

Have you had any experience using geranium oil? I will be glad if you want to share your impressions in the comments.

Geranium, or pelargonium, is a unique plant that amazes not only with its beauty, but also with its miraculous healing properties. In Europe they learned about this flower only in the 17th century. However, it immediately gained popularity. At first, geranium was used to decorate courtyard gardens, and then (more precisely, in the Victorian era) people began to produce fragrant essential oil from it. This oil was used to treat headaches, fractures, insomnia, and ENT problems. It was used to purify the air and to neutralize certain toxic substances. In the modern world, geranium ether is in demand in the field of cosmetology, in particular, for solving skin problems, as it is able to heal and rejuvenate the skin of the face.
