We will talk about BB cream - a caring sunscreen with a toning effect N66, containing natural pigments and biofoavonoids of Olive fruits.
This is a cream from the manufacturer of natural functional dermatological cosmetics Sativa.
What is BB cream?
In short, this is something between a foundation and a moisturizing base.
BB cream first appeared in history in Germany back in the 1950s, although Asia is considered its homeland. Invented by Christina Schrammeck. BB is short for Blemish Base, Blemish Balm or Beauty Balm Cream. Which in translation means - anti-imperfection cream. Originally used in hospitals on patients' wounds after laser surgery to make scars less noticeable. The cream was conceived in such a way that it does not lie like a mask, but blends in with the skin tone, while masking imperfections.
I think over the years its properties and texture have undergone millions of changes, gradually BB cream has replaced foundation creams, although I think they have different purposes. BB is also a complete treatment that replaces day cream, and the tonal properties in European samples are rather minimized to create the effect of “clean skin” without foundation or mask.
Asian options, on the contrary, seem denser to me and they are aimed at whitening the skin, both with the help of strong SPF filters and visually they whiten the skin.
These creams became super popular in the world about five years ago; popularity came to us along with the craze for Asian (in particular Korean) cosmetics; these days, BB cream is produced by most well-known and popular brands.
In the segment of exclusively natural cosmetics, they appeared not so long ago and the choice is not so great. And you should always look at the ingredients of many natural brands. In BB creams you can find both silicones and chemical solar filters.
Sativa has become one of the innovators in this area with their unique BB cream. Its peculiarity is that it seems to me that its properties are as close as possible to European, not Asian, skin types; naturally, it is completely natural.
The cream is light, but you can clearly feel that it protects the skin, allows for multi-layer application, that is, it can be applied to both cream and serum, you will not become a puff pastry.
It mattifies, gives radiance, does not whiten. It completely blends with the skin tone, a competent manufacturer has made two universal shades: for those who prefer beige and/or have an olive skin tone and for those who love a pink undertone.
I tried both as testers and they both fit well on the skin, but for myself personally, I will always prefer the beige tone, it seems to me to be more suitable in color, and in general I feel comfortable with it.

By the way, BB can dry out a little in the nose if you don’t use it for 2-3 days in a row. But this is not critical, it’s just that when you squeeze it out you need to throw away the small frozen lump. It comes out of the tube easily.
In any case, I have never seen a better BB-shki.
What do I get from the cream:
- it doesn’t tint much, but it moderately covers skin imperfections, smoothes out flaking, gives a radiance like when using a highlighter, only more subtle (not to be confused with shine - the skin glows)
- amazing texture, quickly spreads and instantly matches the tone of the skin, the tan (after summer) gradually fades, but I don’t feel the difference (the cream applies equally to both darker and lighter skin tones), there is no feeling of a cream or mask on skin, you can safely apply powder on top and it will be absolutely perfect!
- There is a nuance when applying, the cream dries quickly in the air and it needs to be quickly distributed over the skin, but after three times I got used to doing it without hassle (applying with fingers is easier and better than with a sponge)
- I can compare the effect to fresh 'rested' skin, the skin glows from the inside, it lasts all day and mineral powder lasts better on it than applied independently, that is, it is a good base
- in cold and windy weather, this is also additional protection, the skin becomes less red and rough, and SPF 15 should not be underestimated, which is sufficient for protection in urban winter
- Since I know that many (well, at least I definitely) use cosmetics with acids (masks, peelings) in winter, it is necessary to apply SPF during the day, even if it seems to us that there is no sun at all.

All this splendor with a completely natural composition, real mineral cosmetics, enriched with oils and extracts. There are no critical ingredients, silicones and other things that can often be found in BB creams.
Solar filters are physical, but I also went to the sea in the summer and took SPF products only with physical filters and was satisfied with the protection, so now I will never return to chemical filters.
This is what it looks like, the texture is very thick in my opinion. But the cream itself is not greasy without shine and it gives a matte finish for the whole day. If there are small areas with inflammation, it calms them down.
If, of course, you have really bad skin, then of course BB cream is not your option, but in general, you can try using it together with mineral powder with a good dense coverage. This cream will act as protection and care and as a base for powder.
But the cream smooths out pigment spots quite well, as well as minor redness. At the same time, no one will notice that you are wearing foundation, this is important to me. I don’t really like foundation, but my skin is not so good that I don’t need to cover it with anything at all.
In the photo I circled the area, there you can see the border between the skin with and without BB. For this purpose, I specially caught the light during the day, since the glow is just a glare.
As soon as you turn your hand, there are no boundaries. But the skin with cream clearly looks fresher. In the photo above, the boundaries are no longer visible and where the explosive is applied and where it is not is not particularly clear.
Of course it’s more obvious on the face. BB cream is not applied, this makes the color more uneven, the pores are more noticeable and there is shine (photo on the left).
Here the Photoshop effect is clearly visible (photo on the right), since no foundation is visible on the skin or in the pores at all!
Here too, although it’s not so obvious, the tone is evened out and wrinkles are less noticeable with normal facial expressions. Matteness throughout the day is also a big bonus from using this foundation.
This foundation will be good in both winter and summer, as it protects from the sun. It is light and weightless, and for me it behaves equally well on both oily and dry areas of the skin.
In any case, if you use foundation, I advise you to choose only natural ones, they are safe and will not clog your pores.
On the contrary, mineral cosmetics gradually treat problem skin. The effect, of course, is not as obvious as from comprehensive anti-acne care, but you won’t have to provoke relapses on the skin. Otherwise, it often happens that we treat one thing (with ointments/creams), and treat another (by applying foundation creams with silicones and other nasty things that make it difficult for the skin to breathe).
