Why do acne appear on the face and how to deal with it?

Why do many people have acne on their face?

The question is always relevant - where do acne come from and why some people have it, while others have clear facial skin. Not only teenagers, but also children, men and women of any age are familiar with acne.

Often a lot of effort and money is spent fighting acne, but to no avail. The only thing worse than regular rashes is ignorance of the causes of this phenomenon. To get rid of this unpleasant phenomenon, a competent and versatile approach is required.

Reasons for appearance

When answering the question - why do many people have acne - it is necessary to take into account the reasons for their occurrence.

Unfavorable external factors can also cause acne. The occurrence of acne usually signals some kind of disorder in the functioning of the human body systems.

Hormonal disbalance

While still in adolescence, most people experienced the appearance of rashes on their faces. This is due to hormonal changes in the body and usually goes away with growing up.

Hormonal imbalance leads to increased functioning of the sebaceous glands and changes in the composition of fatty secretions, which causes inflammatory processes on the skin.

About 60-70% of the fair sex notice single pimples shortly before the onset of menstruation. The explanation is simple - an increase in hormone levels during the premenstrual period.

Rashes may appear during periods of hormonal imbalance associated with pregnancy or its termination, menopause.

Diseases of the endocrine system can give rise to the appearance of a rash. If you suspect the presence of such diseases, you need to go to an endocrinologist, if necessary, take hormone tests and undergo treatment.

Some medications and substances affect hormonal balance and cause problems such as acne:

  • steroids for building muscle mass - cause changes in hormonal levels and promote the growth of certain bacteria that can lead to the formation of acne;
  • antidepressants;
  • contraceptives;
  • other hormone-containing drugs.

Stress

Stress changes the functions of various body systems, can disrupt hormonal levels and affect the functioning of organs, exacerbating chronic diseases and increasing the load on the gland responsible for processing toxins - the liver.

Overload of the liver leads to insufficient filtration of toxins, which provoke the appearance of a rash on the skin.

Acne can occur after significant shock or prolonged stress. Even anxiety before a significant event often causes profuse sweating, which increases the likelihood of rashes.

Bacteria

Many bacteria are found on the skin of every person. Most of them are harmless and are part of the natural microflora.

Under the influence of various reasons, the quality of sebum changes and its secretion increases, which leads to clogging of the pores, in which an environment favorable for the active proliferation of bacteria is created.

Certain types of microorganisms that cause skin inflammation:

  • propionbacteria (the main factor for the appearance of acne);
  • demodex mites (a common specimen of natural flora; if overactive, it can cause acne);
  • yeast fungi Malassezio (a permanent component of the natural flora, under certain factors causes seborrheic dermatitis);
  • some staphylococcal bacteria.

Cosmetology products

Low-quality and incorrectly selected cosmetics can cause acne.

The main factors for the appearance of acne due to improper use of cosmetics:

  • insufficient skin care (rarely cleansing the skin, pores);
  • abuse of exfoliating products and cleaning procedures;
  • incorrectly selected means;
  • excessive use of oil-based care cosmetics and decorative cosmetics (powder, foundation and cream), especially in hot weather.

Poor nutrition

The appearance of acne signals internal processes and possible problems with the gastrointestinal tract.

A clogged intestinal tract leads to the absorption of toxins and waste into the blood, which causes a variety of unpleasant results, including the appearance of acne.

To cleanse yourself of toxins and toxins, it is recommended to eat:

  • fiber (legumes, fruits, vegetables, grains);
  • proteins (lean meats and fish);
  • products containing youth vitamins A and E;
  • B vitamins (cereals, cheese, cabbage);
  • products containing omega acids (linseed oil, fish oil).

To detoxify the body, you need to drink at least two liters of water per day.

Products that are recommended to be excluded from the diet or consumed in small quantities:

  • alcoholic drinks;
  • fatty foods and foods;
  • spicy food;
  • flour and sweet;
  • smoked meats;
  • Coffee and tea;
  • carbonated drinks;
  • dairy products (milk, cheese in large quantities);
  • nuts (can be consumed in reasonable quantities);
  • semi-finished products and fast food.

The skin is an organ whose excretory function can clearly show the quality of nutrition. The right diet can be an effective acne treatment.

To answer the question - why many people have acne on their faces - it is necessary to take into account the age and location of the rash.

Each age has its own causes for the appearance of acne, and the location of the acne will indicate problems in the functioning of internal organs.

In adults

Acne can also appear in adults, even those over fifty years of age. According to statistics, a fifth of humanity between the ages of thirty and fifty are susceptible to rashes on the face.

The appearance of a rash on the facial skin of adults indicates emerging health problems, the solution of which should be dealt with by qualified doctors.

The causes of such rashes may be:

  • constant stressful state;
  • hormonal imbalance;
  • disruptions in the frequency of menstruation, their duration and characteristics of the course;
  • menopause;
  • pregnancy;
  • allergic reactions;
  • low-quality decorative cosmetics and poorly selected cosmetics;
  • unbalanced diet;
  • mechanical damage;
  • destructive addictions.

A significant argument is the level of various hormones, which is influenced by various factors and diseases.

With an increased level of the “male hormone” - testosterone in women, the likelihood of acne is high, since the sebaceous glands begin to secrete more sebum, which contributes to clogging of the ducts.

With age, the functions of skin renewal and restoration slow down; one squeezed pimple can leave a mark for life.

To treat age-related acne, you should visit an endocrinologist, dermatologist, gynecologist and cosmetologist. Treatment should be carried out both by eliminating the internal causes of the appearance and by external facial skin care, selected based on the recommendations of doctors after the examination.

In teenagers

Acne appears frequently in adolescence, which has become considered normal by many. Their appearance causes a lot of problems for teenagers, which affects their self-esteem. Most often, rashes occur on the face.

The main reasons for their appearance:

  • hormonal changes in the body;
  • improper facial care or lack thereof;
  • unbalanced diet;
  • stressful conditions;
  • some medications.

Particular attention should be paid to facial care during adolescence. Improper care, as well as lack thereof, have a detrimental effect on young skin and can lead to the appearance of a significant number of rashes.

Failure to comply with basic hygiene rules: touching with dirty hands, washing infrequently and using stale towels only aggravates the situation.

Incorrectly selected cosmetics and care products can clog pores or change the PH balance of the skin. Overuse of anti-acne products causes dry skin, irritation and flaking.

In children

Acne can occur in children, including newborns. It is necessary to start fighting them as early as possible and under the supervision of specialists.

Causes of acne in children:

  • prickly heat;
  • manifestation of allergies;
  • external influences - sun, cold and wind;
  • insect bites;
  • insufficient skin hygiene;
  • skin infection with streptococcal bacteria, demodex and other microorganisms;
  • infectious diseases such as chickenpox, rubella, measles and others;
  • excessive production of certain hormones due to hyperfunction of the adrenal glands and some other pathologies;
  • dysbiosis.

Scheme

Pimples are usually located on a specific area of the face. Their location is associated with the functioning of a specific system of the human body.

The main localization of acne on the face and the internal systems associated with them:

  • cheeks - respiratory system;
  • the area above the eyebrows is the digestive system, the heart;
  • the central part of the forehead is the digestive tract;
  • the area next to the hair is the gallbladder;
  • under the eyes - kidneys and genitourinary system;
  • temporal region - kidneys;
  • lips - gastrointestinal tract;
  • chin - reproductive system;
  • cheekbones - intestines;
  • the tip of the nose and its sinuses - the cardiovascular system;
  • bridge of the nose - liver;
  • the middle of the nose is the gastric tract.

Rashes all over the face most often appear due to allergies and improper skin care.

The answer to the question - why many people have acne on their face - will be given by finding out the reasons for their appearance, age and location.

Perhaps it’s just improper skin care, but most often the causes are diseases of the internal organs and microorganisms.

What causes teenage pimples?

For the first time, pimples begin to appear on the skin of the face during adolescence - from 11 to 17 years. The main reason why acne appears on the face during this period is natural hormonal changes: during puberty, the production of steroid hormones - androgens - increases in the human body. This process is observed in both girls and boys.

Androgens influence many biochemical reactions occurring in the body of a teenager, including those associated with the functioning of the skin.

Hormonal changes lead to increased activity of the sebaceous glands and increased sebum production many times over. If normally this substance has a liquid consistency, then with hypersecretion it becomes thick and viscous, clogging pores and forming a sebaceous plug. Because of this, the products of the fat glands cannot come out and provoke inflammation, which is why acne appears on the face.

It must be borne in mind that adolescence almost never occurs without acne, but the severity of acne can vary: in some teenagers, pimples appear constantly and in large numbers, while in others they appear only from time to time and are isolated in nature. This depends on many factors: on the characteristics of the body, on nutrition, on the condition of internal organs, and on how carefully a person cares for his skin. Despite the fact that the occurrence of acne in adolescence is a completely natural process, you definitely shouldn’t turn a blind eye to it: if a child starts to have too many pimples on his face, this indicates that there are disorders in his body that need to be dealt with . In such a situation, you must definitely find out why acne pops up and try to eliminate the source of the problem in time, otherwise serious complications of acne may arise, after which deep scars will remain on the skin.

fight acne

Why do many people have acne and others do not?

Many people are familiar with acne and the periodic appearance of pimples. It is believed that this problem is characteristic mainly of adolescents and young adults. But recently, older people have also begun to suffer from acne. True, there are those who are spared this misfortune.

In this regard, the question may arise: why do many people experience acne frequently, while others are not familiar with it? The causes of acne are often associated with hormonal imbalances, which mainly occur in teenagers.

But adults also need to know why many people have acne, because no one is immune from this problem.

How do they appear?

Acne is not just a cosmetic problem. Doctors believe that this is a skin disease associated with excessive work of the sebaceous glands. If they produce a lot of sebum, which is not removed from the surface of the skin in time, the pores become clogged. This creates conditions for bacteria to multiply. Therefore, suppuration occurs.

Such inflamed pimples are very painful and very noticeable. They usually go away on their own or after special treatment. But there are acne that is not inflamed. These are comedones - black or white dots. They are an accumulation of dead skin cells or sebum in the pores. They can disappear only after special treatment.

Who suffers from acne

No one is immune from this scourge. But the causes of acne vary from person to person. Teenagers mostly suffer from them due to hormonal imbalances.

Some people experience rashes after stress or sweet foods, others suffer from acne in the summer in hot weather or after wearing tight clothes.

There are many reasons for acne, but the question arises: why do so many people have acne while others have never experienced this problem?

The fact is that each person is individual. Everyone has a different reaction to cosmetics and food, a different skin type and a different set of skin bacteria. Lifestyle, stress, chronic diseases, heredity and dietary habits also play a role.

In addition, there is a genetic predisposition to acne. And they can occur at any age in men and women. Therefore, those who want to have clear skin should know why acne occurs.

Then the development of inflammation can be avoided, and the acne that appears can be cured very quickly.

Causes of acne

  1. Androgen hormones, which are produced in both female and male bodies, and are especially abundant in adolescents. Hormonal imbalances can also occur before menstruation and during pregnancy.
  2. Why do many people develop acne without any connection with hormones?
    Most often this happens due to stress. People react differently to stressful situations - some tolerate them calmly, while others, after they get nervous, immediately develop acne.
  3. Cuts and other breaks in the skin that lead to infection and bacterial growth.
  4. Frequent occurrence of acne is associated with taking certain medications.
    The skin especially often reacts with acne to hormonal medications and birth control pills.
  5. Many cosmetics contain substances that cause allergic reactions in the form of acne or blockage of the sebaceous glands, which leads to the development of an inflammatory process.
  6. Sometimes acne can appear due to poor diet, insufficient skin care, or prolonged exposure to the sun.

Why do many people have acne on their face?

The most unpleasant thing is when acne appears on the forehead or cheeks. Women especially suffer from it. The reasons for this are largely the same: hormonal imbalances, poor diet or an allergic reaction.

They most often occur in people with oily skin or those who use cosmetics incorrectly.

But there is a theory that the appearance of acne is associated with various problems in the functioning of internal organs:

  1. Rashes in the lower part of the face indicate gynecological diseases, disruption of the gastrointestinal tract or endocrine system. During the cold season, they can appear on the chin due to hypothermia.
  2. Why do many people have acne on their forehead? It is believed to be due to poor bowel function and poor diet. In addition, a possible reason for this is the increased activity of the sebaceous glands in this area.

Pimples often appear around the nose. There are a lot of sebaceous glands in this place, and rashes are mainly associated with this. But they may also indicate problems with the liver or cardiovascular system.

Why do many people have acne on their back?

There are a lot of sebaceous glands located on the shoulders and upper back. Therefore, acne appears quite often in these places. In addition to hormonal imbalances and poor nutrition, they can also be caused by other reasons:

  • tight and synthetic clothing that does not allow air and moisture to pass through;
  • dirty hair touching the skin;
  • heat, high humidity and prolonged exposure to sunlight;
  • allergic reaction to clothing and cosmetics.

How to deal with acne

Many people suffering from acne develop various psychological problems. It is difficult for them to find friends, get a job and communicate normally. They are constantly looking for information about why so many people have acne. Photos of a face affected by acne are often unpleasant.

Therefore, you need to know how to prevent acne from occurring, how to deal with it at the first stage of its appearance and cure severe inflammation.

There are many medicinal lotions, solutions and creams for acne: “Chlorhexidine”, “Salicylic alcohol”, “Vishnevsky Ointment”, “Skinoren”, “Zinerit” and others. But you can also use folk remedies.

Aloe juice, decoctions of string, celandine or chamomile help well against acne.

A cosmetic clay mask effectively dries out inflammation; you can add a crushed aspirin tablet to it. Sometimes it is recommended to soap the inflamed areas with tar or laundry soap or lubricate them with toothpaste. But it’s still better to prevent acne from appearing. If you know why they occur, you can prevent inflammation.

Pimples from sweat on the legs of men

Men are often concerned about the appearance of a rash on the skin of their legs. This happens for various reasons: incorrectly selected clothes in hot weather, the components of the clothing fabric are predominantly synthetic, constant pollution and lack of hygiene procedures. Most often, construction workers, summer residents and anyone associated with labor suffer from similar problems.

Maintaining cleanliness of the lower torso and limbs is an important component of overall health. If a person wears warm pants in hot weather, then it becomes a matter of time before a lot of sweat appears on the feet. A constant state of moisture is a favorable environment for the development of bacteriological microorganisms, the waste products of which clog the sweat glands. The accumulation of waste and sebaceous fat under the skin causes the development of an inflammatory process.

With constant physical activity, many athletes use a lot of biological supplements and other drugs that disrupt hormonal levels. Such failures lead to improper functioning of the excretory system, which affects the sweat glands.

Sometimes the appearance of pimples is associated with natural causes, for example, ingrown hairs become causative agents of inflammatory processes. The hair follicle gradually swells, if the contents have nowhere to go, purulent stagnation begins to develop.

A common cause of a rash is hypothermia or the presence of infectious colds.

When diagnosing an allergic reaction to your own sweat, you must make every effort to limit the process of hyperhidrosis. For this purpose, specialized pharmaceutical preparations are suitable that can dry the skin, ensure cleanliness of the skin, and reduce the number of pathogenic microorganisms. It is allowed to use not only pharmaceutical drugs; cosmetic ointments, sprays and other formulations are also highly effective in combating this disease.

If severe sweating develops, you should immediately consult a doctor, and the treatment itself should consist primarily of surgical methods. Some people choose to partially cut out the top layer of skin, but surgery to artificially limit the activity of the sweat glands is considered more gentle and effective.

For each specific case, it is necessary to apply specific targeted treatment. But a simple preventive set of hygiene measures will prevent the disease from becoming severe.

Why do many people have acne on their faces, while others do not?

Acne is a very unpleasant symptom of a certain process that can occur both inside the body and lie on the surface. There are situations when many people experience such skin formations periodically.

It would seem that they use effective ointments and creams, but they can only get a positive result temporarily. The thing is that the cause of this pathology has not been precisely determined, so acne visits your face from time to time.

Let's try to figure out why some people get acne and others don't.

Why do young people get acne?

Acne occurs very often in teenage girls and boys. The main reason for this inflammatory process lies in hormonal imbalance. It occurs due to the onset of adolescence. Juvenile rashes are not considered an infectious process, but the following factors influence their formation:

  • very oily skin;
  • clogging of the skin, which occurs due to the accumulation of dead skin cells in the pores, as a result of which they mix with each other and prevent sebaceous fat from coming out;
  • inflammatory process.

The formation of acne in young people can also be affected by a process such as hyperseborrhea. This process occurs due to a hormonal imbalance. Androgens are responsible for the formation of this pathology.

In women they are produced by the adrenal glands and ovaries, but in men they are produced by the tissues. Due to their effect on the body, the work of the sebaceous glands becomes more intense, as a result of which they produce a lot of sebum.

Most often this applies to the face, back, and upper chest area.

The reasons for their formation on the face of many adults

What are the causes of facial acne in adults? For a very long time, doctors claimed that pimples and acne were the lot of teenagers. But today it has become known that the formation of such a pathological process is observed in adults. Women are increasingly turning to cosmetology clinics with this problem, and their age ranges from 30 to 40 years.

Sometimes it happens that acne is observed in those women who did not experience such problems in adolescence. Most often, this condition is provoked by various irritating factors.

In 75% of cases, the cause of acne on the face is a hormonal imbalance. It occurs due to the fact that women take contraceptives. Also, acne on the face is a common occurrence before menstruation or during menopause.

Very rarely the disease is provoked by taking certain medications.

  • Cosmetics and digestive disorders . Since representatives of the fair sex always want to look beautiful, they often use cosmetics. If they are not of high quality, then inflammation occurs on the skin, turning into rashes. If you do not adhere to proper nutrition, eat a lot of fried, smoked and sweet foods, then metabolic disorders occur. This results in the formation of skin rashes.
  • Constant stress . If you are nervous all the time, you can develop stress, which can be both chronic and sudden. Nervous stress very often provokes acne on the face, which will concentrate on the forehead, nose, cheeks and neck. Stress can arise for various reasons, it all depends on the character of the patient. For some, stress is the illness of a loved one, and for others - a bad mark for an unlearned verse. In frequent stressful situations, a hormonal imbalance occurs, and this already contributes to the disruption of the follicular walls, which are located near the comedones. In simple terms, narrow pores become clogged, causing redness and inflammation. If a person was able to return to a normal rhythm of life, then all these consequences of stress will go away on their own. If you are in a stressful state all the time, then you can develop chronic stress. This effect is negative on the body. As a result, the process of hormone production will be carried out intensively, which will lead to the formation of inflammatory nodules. Most often they form in the chin area.
  • The bad habit of constantly scratching your skin . Many women feel severe itching and constantly scratch the affected area. This further worsens inflammation and increases the risk of acne reoccurring. You should not constantly scratch the affected areas, otherwise you risk serious consequences. To wean patients from this addiction, doctors prescribe them special medications, as well as group treatment to combat stress.
  • Taking contraceptives . The appearance of acne cannot but be affected by a sudden refusal to take contraceptives. They contain androgen, which causes rashes. During early pregnancy or the postpartum period, women notice a large number of acne on their faces. They can shake their forehead, cheeks, nose.
  • Squeezing out skin formations . Most people think that squeezing pimples is the most effective way to combat pathology. But you need to know how to do it correctly. If the pimple is not yet ripe, then at the time of squeezing you will not be able to remove all the contents. Thus, the infection spreads further and begins to affect other layers of the skin.
  • The harmful effects of ultraviolet radiation . With frequent exposure to the sun or visiting a solarium, the skin begins to lose its normal appearance. The reason is that the natural moisture of the skin disappears, which is very harmful. But this does not mean that you need to give up going to the solarium or being on the beach, just control the duration of sunbathing.
  • Constant cleanliness . Following the rules of personal hygiene is always good, but if you do it diligently, that is, wash your face often, your skin will begin to dry out. As a result, the epidermis is more exposed to various infections. It is enough to wash your face no more than 2 times a day, but hand washing should be done intensively to avoid infection.

Whether it is possible to squeeze out blackheads on the face can be found out at the link.

Acne is a common problem among teenagers but adults. To overcome this pathological process, it is necessary to eliminate the underlying factor in time. Only under such conditions the treatment process will not take a long period of time, and existing acne will not have time to affect intact skin.

Cause of summer acne

We can say that there is only one reason for summer acne – heat. It is to her that many people owe the incredible “beauty” of their face in the summer. And all because they forget about precautions and indulge in summer madness. After all, it seems that the sun's rays are the best friends of clear skin. This is not without meaning. But the key word in this case is “clean”. Namely, in the heat it is quite difficult to keep track of its cleanliness. Constant movement, sweat, and an abundance of dust provoke you to tirelessly wipe your face with dirty hands. As a result, the sebaceous channels become clogged with dirt, which leads to slight redness and rashes.

Often the cause of summer acne lies in excessive exposure to the sun. After all, how many people initially only strive to tan and give their skin an even color. But, passion for the process leads not only to a chocolate skin color, but also to the appearance of acne. Sun acne like this is not uncommon. It will no longer be possible to get rid of them using improvised means. Of course, you can constantly take precautions and cleanse your face, take appropriate medications, and tirelessly wash out clogged pores. In this case, profuse rashes can be contained.

If you think carefully, the cause of summer acne may also lie in gastronomic preferences. After all, it is during this period that you really want to try new delicacies, and the amount of sweet drinks and ice cream consumed is steadily growing. Snacks on the beach or in a cafe are out of the question. Thus, by receiving a generous portion of “provocateurs” into our body, we increase the production of subcutaneous sebum on the surface of the dermis. It may not output properly. This leads to such unpleasant consequences as summer acne.

Why do people have acne: FIND OUT 14 main reasons why some people don't have acne

Knowing the characteristics of your skin helps answer the common question of why people get acne. Under the outer layer - the epidermis - is the dermis, where elastic fibers, hair roots, sebaceous and sweat glands are located. They secrete substances that make the skin softer and more resistant to infection. When bacteria multiply, inflammation of the sebaceous glands occurs - acne or acne.

Why do people get acne: 14 main reasons why acne forms

Most often, the appearance of acne depends on an unfavorable combination of many factors. We will prove this with the help of a list of the most common reasons, in which each person will find those that could cause acne in him. The fact that rashes appear in adolescence, before menstruation, proves the hormonal nature of acne.

  1. Violation of skin functions - protective, thermoregulatory, excretory, immune.
  2. Features of the skin inherited from parents who suffered from acne.
  3. Excessive production of sebum by the glands, increasing its viscosity.
  4. Excess toxins in the body, removing them through the skin.
  5. Irritation from detergents and cosmetics.
  6. The habit of touching your face with unwashed hands.
  7. Physical and nervous fatigue.
  8. Food and drug allergies.
  9. Diseases of the endocrine system.
  10. Dirty cell phone surface.
  11. Stale sheets and pillowcases.
  12. Metabolic disorders.
  13. Poor nutrition.
  14. Stress.

How hormones, oily skin and acne are related

The microscopic channels in which the hair passes serve to remove the secretions of the sebaceous glands. When dead epidermal cells fill these holes, sebum becomes blocked. Whiteheads and blackheads appear outside - closed and open comedones.

A few black dots on the forehead and nose are already a sign of mild acne. When comedones become inflamed, more serious changes in the sebaceous glands occur—papules. These are red, painful bumps on the skin. Pustules have a cavity inside filled with purulent contents.

Teenage acne is most often localized in the forehead and nose. Adult acne develops in the lower face, neck and shoulders - areas of the body where there are more sebaceous glands.

But why do many people develop acne during adolescence? By the age of 10–12 years, an increase in the activity of the sebaceous glands is observed.

The oily secretion becomes thicker, stretches the still fragile pore walls and does not come out.

It is important! Acne should be distinguished from other skin diseases: rosacea, dermatitis, keratosis pilaris, demodicosis (infection with a parasitic mite).

At the age of 12–18 years, most people experience changes in hormonal levels; the same condition often occurs due to stress, moving, or a change in diet.

If the male and female bodies produce a lot of steroid hormones, then the production of sebum increases. Until then, Propionibacterium acnes bacteria living on the skin are usually not harmful.

If the pores are blocked, then propionibacteria begin to multiply rapidly, which causes inflammation.

Why do some people not have acne?

According to medical statistics, up to 80% of teenage boys suffer from acne. Acne also does not spare girls and women, especially before menstruation. Acne is a very common phenomenon, but some people manage to avoid acne! Why do some people not have acne? Their skin is less sensitive to changes in the level of testosterone and other steroids.

On a note! A diet rich in omega-3 acids, or taking medications with them, normalizes metabolism, which is necessary during hormonal changes.

Strong immunity is another reason why a person is not bothered by acne. The microflora of the skin is very diverse; sweat and oily substances secreted by the glands create conditions that reduce the activity of all microbes. When sebum stagnates in the pores, the bacteria Propionibacterium acnes begin to multiply intensively, and an inflammatory process occurs.

If you maintain the skin microflora at the same level, there will be less risk of acne. You should not overuse antibacterial lotions and creams; they kill not only pathogenic but also beneficial bacteria.

When processes in the sebaceous glands normalize

As a rule, puberty is completed by 16–18 years of age. Adolescence, with its many problems, must be experienced and learned to cope with life's troubles.

It’s not for nothing that they say that what doesn’t kill us makes us stronger. But acne may appear in subsequent years, although in smaller numbers. This should be alarming, because the appearance of acne is often associated with internal diseases.

You should consult your doctors on this issue.

If there are comedogenic substances in skin care products or cosmetics used, then the skin will not soon return to its normal state. A very large number of ingredients in modern perfumes and cosmetics settle in the pores and irritate the skin for a long time. Taking off your makeup for a few weeks will show whether the chemicals were actually causing your acne.

Why do some people get acne and others don't?

Acne is a real disaster for many teenagers. Treating acne takes a lot of time, effort, and most importantly money. But have you ever wondered why some people get acne and others don't? And if there is, then it’s a single pimple at the age of 16, which goes away on its own.

It turns out that there is a completely logical explanation for this phenomenon. And the same bacterium Propionibacterium acnes is to blame here. Or rather, its third option, which was previously unknown to anyone.

How the study was conducted

To understand why some teenagers get acne and others don't, scientists from St. Louis University and the Biomedical Research Institute in Los Angeles did a lot of work.

And they discovered that Propionibacterium acnes can not only be “bad” and cause acne, but also “good.” And it is good bacteria that protect the skin from acne.

The study was published back in February of this year. And it literally turned acne treatment methods on their heads.

And now doctors around the world are developing new innovative methods to combat acne. This also takes into account such an important factor as the usefulness of bacteria on the skin, which do not cause inflammation, but on the contrary, help prevent the appearance of acne.

What scientists say

“We realized that not all Propionibacterium acnes microbes, also called acne bacteria, are the same. And if some cause acne, others, on the contrary, protect the skin.” This is how Hoying Li spoke about his research.

The results obtained are now actively used in dermatology in Europe and America. And each patient with acne here receives strictly individual treatment, which depends on what kind of acne bacteria were found on his skin.

This means there is not always a need to prescribe antibiotics and retinoids, which have many contraindications and side effects.

Now it becomes clear why some people develop acne, while others do not have them throughout their lives.

Three types of Propionibacterium acnes

Several years ago, the whole world looked at Propionibacterium acnes as a single microbe that was not divided into other strains (varieties). They multiply in the sebaceous glands, and when the immune system is impaired, these microbes cause acne.

To prove that acne bacteria has several varieties, skin samples were taken from 100 volunteers using special sticky strips. Microbes were then isolated from them, and DNA was isolated from each bacterium.

DNA helped reveal the main secret - why some people have acne and others don’t. And it turned out that the acne bacterium exists not in a single copy, but in three!

“We were very interested in understanding that the bacteria look very different from diseased and healthy skin. So we were able to detect three varieties of Propionibacterium acnes. Moreover, all of them are very, very rare in people with dark skin.”

The research has not yet been completed. But today we can say with confidence that this third type of Propionibacterium acnes helps protect the skin from the harmful effects of environmental factors

This means you can increase the amount of a good strain of Propionibacterium acnes by using a cream or lotion that will contain beneficial acne bacteria. All of them will protect the skin from inflammation, and not cause it.

These beneficial bacteria can be compared to those found in natural yoghurts. They help the stomach and intestines work normally. This means that beneficial strains will destroy harmful ones even before they begin their “work.”
